Remembering D-Day – Proclamation and Flag Raising
On Thursday 6th June, Thetford Town Council will commemorate the 80-year anniversary of D-Day by paying tribute to the fallen from Thetford, with a series of events across the day. At 8am, the D-Day flag will be raised, and a proclamation will be read by the Mayor of Thetford at Kings House, this will signify the start of the day’s commemorative events. Cllr Chris Harvey, Mayor of Thetford says “To be able to play even a small part in paying tribute is humbling and a great honour. We stand together to remember the lives of those lost from Thetford and around the world and give thanks for the sacrifices they made for our freedom.”
