Over 200 professionals and school students from across Norfolk attended the Norfolk Youth Against Bullying (NYAB) Conference 2023, which was held at The Carnegie & Guildhall Complex in Thetford. An amazing and inspiring event seeing so many young people come together to tackle bullying, where some Young Commissioners from Broadland bravely shared their stories about experiencing bullying.
The young people who put on this event work tirelessly each year to offer talks and workshops from educators, inspirational guest speakers, leading professionals, and most importantly… young people themselves! Shout out to all the Youth Advisory Board for organising this one-of-a-kind event! These guys make being kind cool!
Students had a talk from Founder, CEO and Director of Athena Education Support, Sandra Govender, about neurodiversity. Students then received a talk about how to respond to, and overcome, bullying from Nathan of the Self Esteem Team. Various workshops were attended by the students, which included, a musical workshop with Degs and BCee, where the students turned their thoughts and feelings about tackling bullying into a rap. Drama Games with The London Bus Theatre, Learning with Lego, Unlocking the Power of Your Senses with Cup-O-T: Wellness and Therapy Services and The Power of Words by Youth in Mind. Other workshops were also presented by Inclusion and Opportunity Service, Norfolk County Council Breckland Youth Advisory Board, Broadland Yab, North Norfolk Youth Advisory Board, South Norfolk YAB, Great Yarmouth YAB, Norwich YAB, and West Norfolk YAB.
