Lest we forget
Just a few of the photographs taken today of the Thetford Town Remembrance Service 12th November 2023.
The Market Place and King Street were lined with those joining the Service of Remembrance, each person there reflecting on personal memories of those who are no longer with us.
Composed whilst sitting on a cliff in North Cornwall in 1914, the words from the poem ‘For the Fallen’ by Laurence Binyon, whilst nearly a century on, the words of Binyon’s poem endures as a dignified and solemn expression of loss.
“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn;
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them.”
